Webgloss email accounts in Outlook Express
Below are step by step instructions for setting up your Webgloss email accounts in Outlook Express.
You will need to know your email address and password along with your SMTP server settings that are provided by your broadband or Internet supplier.
Some Internet providers now insist that you verify or authenticate any email accounts that they have not provided. If yours is one of these, you will need to contact them for specific instructions
before you can send any email through any email account.
Setting up SMTP Authentication for BT users: instructions can be found here at the BT website.
Sky users may have problems as clear instructions are hard to find on their website.
An example of instructions at the Sky website is here and could be tried but you will probably have to telephone Sky.
If your Internet supplier does not provide full SMTP settings you may need to purchase these - at Webgloss we charge £15 a year for SMTP facilities but we do advise that your broadband provider should be supplying
them free of charge and ask that you get in touch with them first.

1. Open Outlook Express
You do not need to be connected to the Internet to open Outlook Express.
2. Click on Tools in the menu bar and then click on Accounts in the drop down list which appears.
A window named Internet Accounts will open
3. Ensure that you are in the 'Mail' section (click on the tab at the top of the window that says 'Mail'- see image above)
4. Click on the Add button to the right (see image below) and choose 'Mail' from the menu that appears.
5. You are now presented with the 'Your Name' screen (see below). Type in the 'Display Name' box the name that you would like people who receive emails from you to see.
Then click the 'Next' button.
6. You are now presented with the Internet Email Address screen (see below).
Type your FULL email address in the box (eg. sales@seemore.co.uk ) and check that it is absolutely correct - if one character is wrong your email account will not function.
Then click the 'Next' button.
7. The window you should be able to see now is where you enter the servers that process your incoming and outgoing email.
Ensure that the top box 'My incoming mail server is a' is set to POP3.
In the next entry box called 'Incoming Mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server:' enter the following - but put your actual domain name instead of 'yourdomainname.co.uk' :
mail.yourdomainname.co.uk
If your domain name is www.bestbottles.com you would have entered
mail.bestbottles.com
- see the image below for an example.
In the next entry box called Outgoing Mail (SMTP) server: - see the image below - you need to enter the SMTP server name of your ISP.
Your ISP is who you have an account with - you use their 'dial up' facility to connect to the Internet.
Eg. if you connect through Virgin then enter
smtp.virgin.net
If you are unsure of your SMTP server then you need to contact your ISP and ask them what it is.
8. You are now presented with the Internet Mail Logon screen (see below).
Type your FULL email address in the first box (eg. sales@seemore.co.uk ) and your password (as agreed with Webgloss - please contact us if you are unsure of this) in the lower box. Even if only one character is incorrect, your email account will not function correctly, so ensure that you type accurately and in the correct 'case', ie. lower or upper.
Ensure that the 'Remember password' box is ticked and that the 'Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)' is NOT ticked.
Then click the 'Next' button.
9. You should now see a screen that says 'Congratulations' - click the 'finish' button.
We would suggest that you now send a test email - you are welcome to send this to Webgloss and say that you would appreciate a reply because you want to test whether you can successfully SEND and RECEIVE email from and to your account.
